Bio

Prof. Jeong-Mo Hong is a tenure-track associate professor at Computer Science and Engineering Department at Dongguk University. He received the BS degree in 2000 and the MS degree in 2002 in mechanical engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea. After obtaining the PhD degree in computer science from the Korea University in 2005, he developed fast fracture simulation methods and shock-dynamics based fire simulation techniques which are being widely used in computer graphics and visual effects (VFX) industry, as a research fellow at the Computer Science Department of Stanford University. He joined Dongguk University in 2008 and has been concentrated on industry-university collaborations such as technical consulting and R&D programs for Korean blockbuster movies 'Haeundae' and 'Sector 7'. He has led several national research projects to develop high-quality VFX simulation techniques for the globalization of Korean CG/VFX industries with the support of Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST) and Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA). His major research interest is the next generation VFX technology based on high-performance computing in order to take one more step toward the convergence of digital art and computational science by applying it to highly creative visual contents, media art, 3D printing and more of entertainment computing applications.

홍정모 교수는 동국대학교 컴퓨터공학과에 재직중이다. 한국과학기술원 기계공학과에서 2000년과 2002년에 각각 학, 석사 학위를 받았으며 2005년에 고려대학교에서 전산학 박사 학위를 받았다. 이후 2년간 미국 스탠포드 대학교에 연구원으로 재직하면서 개발한 고속 파괴 시뮬레이션과 충격파 기반 불 시뮬레이션 기술들은 컴퓨터 그래픽스와 특수 시각 효과 분야에서 다양하게 사용되고 있다. 동국대학교에는 2008년도에 임용되었으며 활발한 산학협력 연구 활동을 통해 영화 '해운대'와 '7광구'를 비롯한 다수의 작품에서 VFX 기술에 대한 자문과 R&D를 수행하였다. 주 연구 분야는 고성능 컴퓨팅을 바탕으로 하는 차세대 그래픽스 기술이며 영상 콘텐츠 제작, 미디어 아트, 모바일 그래픽스, 3D 프린팅 등 고품질 디지털 콘텐츠 제작을 위한 기술과 예술의 융합을 추구하고 있다.
